Environmental Health in
Maryland |
The Environmental Health Coordination Program at the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
works with the Maryland Department of the Environment, local health departments, and
other agencies, to monitor and promote the health of Maryland’s citizens through improvements
in environmental quality. The Environmental Health Coordination Program has 3 main
responsibilities:
Environmental Public Health Surveillance
Report an Exposure to or Illness from
Pesticides, Occupational illnesses, or other Environmental Health Conditions.
Data and information about environmental health in Maryland (Environmental Public Health Tracking)
Control of Environmental Public Health hazards not already regulated by the Maryland Department
of the Environment
Clean Indoor Air Act
Tanning for minors
Special (Regulated) Medical Waste
Coordination of responses to possible outbreaks or clusters attributed to environmental hazards or exposures
