The Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners has reduced the license renewal fee for Maryland dentists with active general licenses. The fee will be reduced from $415 to $365 for all dentists with general licenses; that is, those scheduled to renew their licenses on or before June 30, 2008, and those scheduled to renew their licenses on or before June 30, 2009. It is anticipated that the reduction will be eliminated beginning with the June 30, 2010 renewal cycle. Please note that license renewal should be completed on or before June 30th. A dentist who renews their license in July of the year in which their renewal is due must pay both the renewal fee and a late fee. A dentist who has not renewed their license by July 31 in the year in which the renewal is due is not eligible for renewal, but must instead apply to reinstate their license. In addition, a dentist who has not renewed their license by July 31 in the year in which the renewal was due and who has practiced dentistry on or after August 1 is practicing dentistry without a license, a misdemeanor, and is subject to disciplinary action by the Board.
