Treatment

A positive HIV antibody test is scary news but it is not a death sentence. Many people are alive and well 15 years or more after becoming HIV positive as a result of improved treatment for HIV.

It is very important for you to see your doctor as soon as you learn you are HIV positive. The earlier you find out about your infection and the sooner you begin treatment, the healthier you will be. There are many assistance programs available to help people with HIV get medical care.

For more information about living with HIV talk with your health care provider or check the websites listed on Resources for People Living with HIV/AIDS.
