Housing Assistance
HOPWA
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) established the Housing Opportunity for Persons With HIV/AIDS (HOPWA) program to address the housing needs of persons living with HIV/AIDS and their families. HOPWA makes grants to local communities, states, and nonprofit organizations for housing assistance and related supportive services that benefit low-income persons diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and their families.
HOPWA funds are administered by the AIDS Administration for the following rural counties; however, HOPWA services are available throughout the state. Ask your case manager or healthcare provider about the program if you need housing assistance and meet the eligibility requirements. HOPWA services are limited by available funding.
